Where will you be watching the World Cup this year and what does your chosen watering hole have that makes it the best place to be for the tourney?

I'll probably go to Claddagh a lot (w/the exception of USA-England, as Berdawn said), but, since I work on campus, I plan to watch a lot of the matches on the OSU campus, at Woody's Tavern, or (as I did last time) in the cafe in Hagerty Hall.

The Columbus Crew announced today that Crew Stadium will once again serve as “Cup Headquarters†by hosting viewing parties for all 64 games of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa that will be televised live on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, just as it did in 2002 and 2006.The games will be shown in high definition on Panasonic HD televisions provided by Best Buy in the Stadium Club tent, located just west of the stadium. Parking and admission to Cup Headquarters will be free, and complementary snacks and Pepsi products will be available to fans in attendance, as will a cash bar and $1 Sugardale hot dogs throughout the tournament.
Wireless internet access will be available in the Time Warner Cable Business Center for those who wish to bring their work to Crew Stadium while they watch the games, and elements of the Crew Soccer Tour will be set up just north of the Stadium Club tent.

I like Fado's at Easton. It's crowded, sure, but there is a great crowd, enthusiastic crowd. If you're looking for a more sit-down-get-a-table-and-have-food vibe, I am working with Champps Restaurant on Campusview in Worthington for the USA/England match. They will have prizes throughout the game and the game in HD around the restaurant, so that may be a more family-friendly alternative.

Fado is the only place to be! Plenty of free parking. A tent out back to provide shade, shelter from rain and to accommodate more people (just like St. Patrick's Day). A jumbo-tron to watch all the games. Live bands after the games. Lots of friendly staff to keep your pints full all the time. They are also part of the Central Ohio Safe Ride Program so you can drink all you want and get home safely. Oh and the USA vs. England match is sure to be huge with the large amount of British regulars that frequent the pub. Wouldn't it be great to see the sick looks on their faces as the USA beats them at their own game just like 1950? It is guaranteed to be a great time!

I'm probably going to go to Studio 35 for England US game, although going to go to the stadium for tomorrow's opening game so I may change my mind, as I've never been to a world cup viewing there.
Both those places are 10 minutes walk from my house so thats a major plus

The Irish pubs around town are usually solid places to watch a match, but I've been trying to figure out a Short North/Arena District alternative. I think Park St. Festival will actually add to the environment, so I'm getting together a pretty big group to head to Park St. Tavern. The owners and bartenders are great and it has a nice pub feel. Plus, after goals are scored we can party and drink in the street! If you live around there and want to walk, meet up with our merry band of hooligans at pst!

I'm thinking about heading over to studio 35 myself as I can walk there and stumble home almost as easily. Pity there isn't a patio or something outside for the summery drinking atmosphere. The web site for the theater has zero information though, so I'm not sure what their schedule is for the matches and which they will feature.
The event at Crew stadium sounds pretty cool as well.
I also like the PST idea, street drinking and cup action is a nice combination.
Claddagh is gonna be too jammed full of people I think, plus it's a bit of a hike for me.
Anyone know if O'Reilly's will be showing the matches?

That's rich that Eddie George's has now decided that they're interested in getting soccer fans' business. Cute.
We tried to go there a couple of weeks ago to watch the Champions League final. It was a Tuesday afternoon, there were about 30 people who came to watch, and no more than 5 other customers in the whole place. They refused to turn on the sound from the Top 40 pop that played, or to turn more than 1 TV in the whole place to the game. People requested to speak to the manager but the request was rejected on numerous occasions. Per the bartenders, the TVs could not be changed because the programming was "set by regional management."
A truly miserable experience, and I'd highly suggest that all World Cup fans go elsewhere. (We left at half time and went to Claddaghs.) Otherwise, you may find 50 people clustered round 1 TV in the corner, while the San Diego Padres play the Florida Marlins on 10 TVs to no one in particular, all while listening to Ke$ha.
