Your just not going fast enough!
For real. I remember my weekly reader in elementary school telling me that flying cars would fix our countries transportation problems by the year 2000.
Wow i forgot all about weekly reader! I used to live for those things.
And Lisa Ling on channel 1....

Tigertree, I don't think flying cars would be good for your business. Because as we are all aware, in the age of flying cars we will all be wearing identical monochrome unitards. I mean maybe you'd cash in on the craze at the beginning, but since they are made of space age polyester synthetics that won't tear or smell, we all only need one and they just don't lend themselves to accessorizing (belts are useless you'd clearly see the wallet bulge).
John Prine
We are living in the futureI'll tell you how I know
I read it in the paper
Fifteen years ago
We're all driving rocket ships
And talking with our minds
And wearing turquoise jewelry
And standing in soup lines
Edit: John Prine is playing the Palace on 02/23/08 Anyone else going?
I think futurism is not all its cracked up to be. It's best to live in the present and surround yourself with people you care about and fill your life with actions that create a better world. Plus - if you had a hoverboard, it would probably be so awesome that you'd spend way less time with your boring kids.
I don't think "futurism" means "living in the future."
And if I had a hoverboard, I think I'd be auctioning it on eBay. Those things look like you could get your neck broken. I like my neck. And I don't have a spare.
Remember the futuristic world as imagined in "Back to the Future II?" What year was that again... oh right, 2015. In other words, SEVEN YEARS FROM NOW. Where are the hoverboards, the controlled weather, the abolishment of lawyers? Although we do have the 80's nostalgia.
I didn't even know about John Prine... that's great... I love his song "Crazy as a Loon"....
The best futurism I've read in some time was this past year, Bruce Sterling ...
I always think of channel 1 every time I see anderson cooper hehe
