Snuggies: Not just for the sedentary!
And really? Backgammon?

or at a Renaissance Festival.
I try to use paper as little as possible. I use a handkerchief to wipe my brow of blow my nose. Use rags in the kitchen. Use old shirts on cleaning the bike. At work we cut up sheets of paper that have been printed on one side into our own Post-It notes.
I guess I do use toilet paper, and I would probably use newspaper, but I can't seem to get anybody else to catch that train. There are several brands of 100% recycled toilet paper though.
I used to wrap presents in the Sunday Comics.
Recycle everything else.
I also reuse aluminum foil. If you are careful, you can unfold the stuff and gently unwrinkle it so it is reusable again and again. It takes a shit ton of electricity to make aluminum. Rockmastermike probably knows more, but from what I understand, you have to electrocute bauxite clay so much that the aluminum in it comes out. !
wow!

I can go on and on.

Yes. Bauxite mining/processing is very dirty and energy intensive. It's mostly a chemical process, but yes a lot of electricity is involved.
Recycling Al is a good thing to do.
As an aside, I've found that newspaper (the Other Paper in particular) seems to work really well for absorbing grease off fried foods.

Great for cleaning windows, too.
Coremodels wrote I've had Mighty Putty for like a year, and it hasn't successfully fixed anything yet.

$5.98 at Lowes, in the plumbing section.
I used some to make a PVC didgeridoo a couple years ago. :P
Oh, you've missed the father of all of this: Popeil. Those of us who grew up in the 70's remember Ronco! Chop-O_matic, Veg-O-Matic (inspiration for SNL), and the classic Mr Microphone ("Hey good lookin'...I'll be back to pick you up later")...creepy... My grandma used to buy all of these things!
I don't use a lot of paper towels, either -- probably not $20.00 per year. I do use them for puking pets, tho (cat hairballs and whatever green plant matter the dogs eat outside). The rest, I'm with Cyclist, and use reusable/washable....

Geez, yeah... nothing else seems to work as well for the catpuke. You COULD use a rag or something, but that is problematic at best.

I love that retard lady who is always so surprised about how easy Popeil's products make her household tasks. And always surprised how good the food that you cook in your dishwasher or a plug-in electric rotisserie or an unholy amalgam of vegetables chewed into frothy juice tastes.
Just set it and forget it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dam I really need to get more sleep I see those selling shows a lot.
The people on the magic bullet ( food chopper) commercial look fucking amazed apparently they have never seen a food processor LOL .
On a side note I was watching a fosters house marathon and every commercial was for blendy pens. After seeing the for 8 hrs I felt like a deserved some free blendy pens lol
No need my mom got some for my son and they suck !
Slightly off topic, but still annoying shit on tv:
monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday saturday sunday every dayyyyy
Kill me.
Oh I forgot to list my paper towl useage LOL
I use them not much but 20 bucks seems like a lot I think a roll can last me a month so thats like 3 bucks lol
Joe... great thread!
First of all... you have all forgotten the BEST TV sales item ever. 5 syllables:
CH- CH- CH- CHIA! (I actually got the Chia Pet one year as a gag gift.)
Second
seems like I use a roll maybe once a month. Mostly use them for gross clean up jobs, like dog barf on the couch. or for jobs that might stain the dishtowels. $20 in paper towels? I bought a case of them for $8 last week... nuts!
I hate furniture store commercials where they just yell at you the whole time. When someone yells at me, I get mad. It doesn't make me want to furnish anything.

makes me want to furnish that yelling guy with a nice kick right in his 3-piece bedroom set.

I think it's funny when they are yelling and it looks like they are cartoon photoshopped into their own commercial. :P

I so much prefer when they raspily whisper at you instead.
