I'm not going to lie, the picture was taken out of context, but only to illustrate that there is only one location of ThisWeek close to downtown establishments. If the papers aren't widely available where there are particular restaurants I don't think it should be counted as a comprehensive "Best Restaurants" list for Columbus.
Perhaps it's not the best overall indicator. I was being sarcastically over-dramatic with my original comment about Columbus not being a foodie mecca. ;)
I do think it's a good display of the cultural divide that exists between our suburban and urban areas though. I'm not the type of person to point and laugh though at this type of thing. I'd rather work harder to expose everyone to all that the city has to offer and would hope that everyone can make their own personal choices based on all options available, and not just the safest, closest or most convenient choices.
That being said, I disagree with your point about availability of this publication being lacking in urban areas being a factor in the choices people make in these types of surveys. It's very easy and a very common thing to travel around the region to eat. Everyone makes special trips 10, 20 sometimes 30 miles from home for specific restaurants on specific occasions. Someone who lives in the burbs has no reason not to enjoy Rigsby's or G. Michael's or Surly Girl. Inversely, people who live in the urban core of the city have no excuse not to venture out to dine at Starliner, Kihachi or Shaw's Inn.
