Has anyone noticed the issues with 10tv.com lately? I find frequent spelling and grammatical errors.
I've also noticed that when they're describing a crime suspect, they include everything except the race of the suspect. Including this information is helpful in finding the suspect, not racist in any way.

so that was you who left the comment about the robbery suspect? i see your point but is it really that big of a deal? that message board is full of racists and retards, maybe they are trying to keep that kind comment to a minimum.

Busted. To me, it just seems like very incomplete reporting for a news station. They shouldn't base their reporting on what might be posted on the board. Very important information is being left out. I'm not sure why. White, black, hispanic, all commit crimes.
I know what you're saying about the message board. It is not a pretty place. I usually just read it when I'm bored. However, I can't ignore totally inadequate reporting. NBC4i.com posted a complete description of the suspect. That is what I expect of a newscast.

I hear it sometimes in the news on WOSU and WCBE, there will be a wrong word that's similar to the word that should have been used, like they accepted spell-check replacements and no one sanity-checked it before it went on air.
On the 10TV site, the stories often have holes in them. One thing they taught us in journalism school was that if you introduce someone in a news story, you also report what finally happened to them. Many local stories leave the reader only partly informed.

Word on the street is that a lot of stations have made cuts - even in their reporting staff. They're sending videographers/photographers now to most stories, and the videographer gets the video AND the story. The person I talked with (who weekly interacts with the news for stories) said that more than once, the videographers have gotten details wrong.
