SwingColumbus is hosting a swing dance for over 200 dancers with live music by Todd Stoll's Jazz 2 Go Septet.
This evening is the highlight of a whole weekend devoted to workshops, competitions, and social dancing. Over 170 people are registered for the workshops, so the dance is expected to top 200. It's primarily 20 and 30-somethings, but all ages are welcome!
The Jazz 2 Go Septet is made up of some of the most talented professional jazz musicians in central Ohio. On Saturday they'll be playing mostly 1920s-1940s jazz from the likes of Ellington, Basie, Bechet, and others. They will also be playing live for an improvised dance competition at midnight!
8:00-9:00 - DJ
9:00-10:30 - Live band
10:30-11PM - Showcase Competition (1 couple, 1 song, choreographed)
12:00AM - Jack and Jill Competition Finals with live band (couples randomly paired, improvised dancing)
12:30AM - Band finishes, Competition results announced
12:30AM-2:00AM - DJ'ed music
