&#60;p&#62;&#60;em&#62;There’s no denying that, for years, Columbus lived in the psychological shadow of its older and better-known municipal counterparts, where industrial wealth built name recognition, concert halls and fine-arts collections. But the notion of Columbus as a cultural backwater is more myth than reality. The city’s contributions to arts and culture predate by decades the emergence of the Short North arts-and-entertainment district or the Wexner Center for the Arts, two attractions that have burnished the city’s image in recent times.&#60;br /&#62;
