(Reuters) - This city has been down for so long, it's hard to believe what's risen up here in the heart of America's "Rust Belt." On an industrial site littered with scrap metal, a French-Japanese joint venture called Vallourec Star has just opened a $1.1 billion state-of-the-art steel pipe mill.

I don't think Kasich needs to drum up any support with his tax increase from his voting body. Have yet to talk to a single person who feels Ohio should be among the lowest in taxing the frackers. The only people who oppose him are those that have to pay the taxes. As well as those that were bought to oppose him.

If he needs to drum up more support, it is in his allowing Ohio to be fracked in in the first place. It seems as if fracking was a lot more supported 1-2 years ago than it is now.

Kasich frack tax would ‘close the window’ on expanded Utica shale development, lobbyist says
Staff reporter-Business First

Oil and gas industry lobbyist Tom Stewart said Thursday that Gov. John Kasich’s bid to raise severance taxes on drilling operations could stall development of the Utica shale play beyond the activity now being seen in a sweet spot for wet gases such as ethane and propane in eastern Ohio.

The issue of hydraulic fracturing has sparked debates across the U.S., usually pitting those opposed to the practice’s environmental implications against those who see it as a major job creator. But the debate has touched the city of Youngstown, Ohio literally, given that at least 11 recent earthquakes in the region have been traced back to injection wells — only one way fracking companies dispose of their waste. And yet, with one factory expanding specifically to accommodate demand for pipes used in fracking, the potential economic benefit for this struggling industrial city can’t be ignored.
Gee, the EPA goes ahead and makes assessments knowing that they have incomplete information, waits for a regulatory agency to discover the problem (if it's discovered) and then cries it's not our fault. Good job EPA.

You should really read the actual report. Its not that complicated, and you'd be less full of wrong.

Actually no, reading the report itself makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Which, by the way, indicates that the EPA isn't the issue...states reporting to the EPA is the issue.

EPA uses its National Emissions Inventory (NEI) to assess risks, track trends, and analyze envisioned regulatory controls. However, oil and gas production emissions data in the 2008 NEI are incomplete for a number of key air pollutants. For example, only nine states submitted criteria pollutant emissions data for small stationary sources. Because so few states submitted data for this sector, we believe the NEI likely underestimates oil and gas emissions. This hampers EPA’s ability to accurately assess risks and air quality impacts from oil and gas production activities.

Gee, the EPA goes ahead and makes assessments knowing that they have incomplete information, waits for a regulatory agency to discover the problem (if it's discovered) and then cries it's not our fault. Good job EPA.

Wow, leave it to Fox News to put that kind of spin on the report...which actually is saying the EPA likely underestimated the level of pollutants.

Awwww, if the same report from the Huffington Post makes you feel all warm and fuzzy here you go;

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20130221/us-epa-drilling-pollution/?utm_hp_ref=green&ir=green

Apparently the EPA isn't doing their job correctly.

EPA might be a little off the mark on drilling
