When WBNS and Time Warner cable finally reached an agreement 10tv's Dopplar Weather Now channel was suppose to be added to TW channels. 10tv advertised it during a newscast but I can't find it on their site or TW's site.

I also made the mistake of asking TW customer service in a live chat.

Does anyone know what channel 10.2 is on TW cable Columbus?

I'm looking into starting a blog but don't know much about how to start one. Everyone says it's pretty simple and I'm sure that is the case. I'm looking for something free or really affordable but reliable and easy to manage. I figured that this would be the best place to ask. Any suggestions?

This is going to sound horribly pathetic but my pilot light went out and I can't get it relit. Not for a lack of trying. I attempted yesterday only to find that, while the tank has a 12 step relight process printed on the side, it fails to list the specific tool needed to open the access door in the first place.

2 trips and a Google search later I procured the proper bits (tamper resistant Torx in this case) and attempted to get it taken care of. Unfortunately it seems that the directions don't really match what I'm seeing (or I'm just clueless) and I called it quits after the 3 foot jet of flame.

So in short: good company to call?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but.... I was inspired to ask by the topic mentioning the new place being opened by the Hyde Park folks. Generally when I want a steak I go to Mortons. Or the Clarmont. I've been to M, and Mitchells steak house. Have never eaten at either Hyde Park or Ruth Chris's. While the steaks aren't quite as tender at the Clarmont they're infinately cheaper. So what's your choice and why?

Paul

does anyone know of any supermarkets in/around Columbus that are particularly unique and hold a lot of character to make for a great shooting location for this video? The entire video takes place inside of the supermarket (in one aisle) so I don't want to do it in a generic grocery store. Any ideas??

I will be moving to Columbus soon as I have secured a job downtown. I will also be taking some classes at OSU. While in Pittsburgh I bought a double and rented out half which helped pay the mortgage.

I have had a chance to look a bit in depth at a couple of areas in Columbus and am thinking Highland West (Hilltop) or Weinland Park.

Highland West seems pretty residential and easy access via bike and car to downtown via Broad and McKinley. It also has some nice parks (holton, rhodes etc). The housing stock seems very affordable. I am not sure how easy it would be to get tenants.

Weinland Park seems also to have a central location and also easy access via bike and car. I have heard it might be a little rougher than Highland West as far as crime. I believe it would be easier to find tenants there (closer to OSU and amenities). I have also heard that property values are increasing due to gentrification.

I really like getting my feet wet and would rather buy and gain equity in some property. I think having a tenant mitigates some of the risk. Can anyone give their opinions on these two areas - pros and cons etc?

thank you

I've been having an extended conversation via PM with controversial new poster Gig3000, and while I think she herself realizes she didn't give an ideal first impression, she does have some real and important questions that deserve answers. For all us committed urbanists, I think we need to make an extra effort to be supportive of anyone who is contemplating leaving the suburbs for the city, at whatever age, and for whatever reasons.

One of Gig's main questions is what expectations should someone who has never lived in a city before have about making the move, and what advice should they be given.

Since I've never lived in a non-urban area, I don't necessarily have a whole lot to contribute. I've given the general advice of keeping an open mind, being flexible, and also being smart and aware about your surroundings, and which parts of the neighborhood are safe and which are not. But maybe some people on here have made the transition from suburbs to city life and have more to offer.

Considering that I am still somewhat new to the Columbus area, I'm a bit lost on just what areas are considered decent/safe to live in and which ones are not.

I'm currently in Worthington and I honestly think its a bit too far up north or my tastes. I'd like to be closer to the city, where I work (Whitehall) and where I currently go to my one class at CSCC. So, taking a look around with a map, I pointed out Bexley to a few of my friends.

Reactions: Mixed feelings about the area. Some say Bexley is great, while others state that its just not safe. This is usually the case with any part of a city but I always take opinions into consideration, especially from people who have lived here a while.

Using a site for recent apartment listings (metro-rentals.com), I came across as few areas that stated that they were near Bexley through the rental company Wallace F. Ackley Co. (If anyone has dealt with this company before, please give me your opinions of them). A few of the apartments are on the following streets:
Kenwick Road
Eastmoor Blvd.
Sherwood Road

Based off of the information, would it be smart of me to take a look at these apartments? If you think I should scrap them all together, does anyone have any ideas of where I can look in the general vicinity?

Something unique and/or over the top things to do here in Columbus other than a standard birthday party/surprise party. I thought what better to do than to ask other folks here in town. I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas. The birthday is in March.
