Five Stops for Gallery Hop – July 2011

By: Walker

If your Fourth of July weekend wasn’t already busy enough, we’ve also got Gallery Hop to throw into the mix. There’s quite a few exciting things going on tonight, so we’ve got our top five picks to help you take in the sights and sounds of this month’s event:

1. Art – Rivet

Tonight, Rivet hosts the opening of a new group exhibition featuring Bec Winnel, Cherri Wood and Jonas Löfgren. The reception runs from 7pm to 10pm and Rivet can be found at 1200 N. High St.

2. Shopping – The Attic

The Attic was originally located next door to Basil Thai (the store is also a creation of the owners of the restaurant), but has just finished migrating up the street to 1190 N. High Street. They’ll be open for Gallery Hop from noon to 10pm and offering free cookies if you stop by after dinner at Basil Thai.

3. Dining – Deepwood

Technically, Deepwood is located a block outside of the Short North at 511 N. High Street, but their special $25 three-course tasting menu tonight will make it worth the walk. The menu (PDF) includes duck & foie gras sausage corn dogs, lobster-topped white pizza, veggie shish kabobs and more.

4. Shopping – The Candle Lab

Candle Lab celebrates the grand opening of their new Short North location today. They won’t be open prior to Gallery Hop though, so don’t try to swing by early. The new shop can be found at 751 N. High Street.

5. Entertainment – Brothers Drake Meadery

Tonight, Brothers Drake will host Felecia Dunson, a live graffiti artist with musical support provided by The Beauty of My Land, Hounds to Bindles and DJ Teen Fiction. Brothers Drake Meadery is located at 26 E. Fifth Avenue.

What else are you looking forward to at Gallery Hop tonight?

  • Best of luck to The Candle Lab.  They’re definitely good partners in the community.  Candle shopping or not, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t stop by to say hi to Steve and Katesha.

  • Great feature and a great Hop in store! Hoping the rain lets up soon!

  • Thanks to all who stopped in during Gallery Hop to welcome us to the neighborhood. It was truly an amazing night!
