Hofbräuhaus was originally trying to be open for business today, but a few construction delays have held up the process. The Munich-based brewery is expanding to the Columbus market in a big way with a massive 18,000 square foot facility that boasts a 40 hectoliter system (roughly a 34 bbl system by the more common US brewery measurement). The on-site brewing capacity will allow the bar to serve up regular beers such as their lager and dunkel, and a rotating mix of seasonal beers that will change every month with a keg tapping celebration.
The new Grandview Yard brewery is still planning to be open by the end of October [Update: October 28th is the planned opening date], and allowed local media a sneak preview today during a touring event. The main hall boasts high ceilings, ample bench seating, private booths, and a bar that offers a view of some of the gleaming brewing equipment on display. Artwork and fixtures brought in from Germany are still being put in place, and the first batches of unfiltered beer are coming out of the tanks today.
