Firebirds Wood Fired Grill Launches in Columbus

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, known for American classics infused with bold seasoning then wood fired to perfection, is moving into the Columbus Market. Based out of North Carolina, Firebirds has 31 locations across the country, including one in Niles, Ohio.

This June, they added their 32nd location in Columbus. Firebirds Polaris opened on Monday, June 16 at 8760 Sancus Boulevard, at the former site of Hoggy’s Restaurant, which was demolished last year.

The restaurant, which is 6,200 square feet and can seat roughly 220 guests at a time, specializes in hand-cut, aged steaks, seafood, chicken, and ribs cooked over a wood fired grill in an open exhibition kitchen.

For starters, guests can’t go wrong with the Seared Ahi Tuna, or the signature Lobster Spinach Queso – an unexpectedly delicious blend of spinach, cheese and real chunks of lobster throughout.

Other tasty signature dishes include the Wood Grilled Salmon, Durango Burger with fried onions and roasted garlic dressing, and Slow Roasted Prime Rib, which is encrusted with herbs and pepper, hand carved, and served with unctuous homemade au jus and horseradish sauce.

The Baby Back Ribs and American Kobe Beef Meatloaf are also worth mentioning, as is the Chile Rubbed Delmonico with southwest au gratin potatoes and the Firebirds BLT Salad with applewood-smoked bacon and more roasted garlic sauce.

Diners can finish their meal with one of six dessert offerings, of which the Big Daddy Chocolate Cake and the Cheesecake Crème Brulée truly shine. Dishes at Firebirds cost anywhere from $7-$40, so it’s a good choice for any price range.

“Everything we do here is top-notch and world class, but still affordable,” shares Stephen Loftis, VP Marketing for the Firebirds brand. “Our guys in the kitchen not only make great food, they put on a show. It’s one thing I think folks will love about coming to Firebirds.”

Visitors will also enjoy the Firebar, with a selection of private Firebirds label wines, craft beers, and specialty cocktails. Happy Hour at the Firebar and outdoor patio runs from 4pm – 6:30pm, serving half priced appetizers and specially-priced drinks.

Firebirds Grill also gives back, and encourages guests to do the same. They support Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a charity that raises money to fight childhood cancer. For every glass of lemonade purchased, Firebirds donates $1 to the fund.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, named one of the Top Ten Breakout Brands of 2014 by Nation’s Restaurant News, hopes to open two more location in Ohio by 2015: one in Miamisburg later this year, and another in Mason in early 2015.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is open for lunch and dinner Sunday-Thursday, 11am – 10pm, and Friday-Saturday, 11am – 11pm. They also offer banquet services for personal or corporate events, as well as catering.
