Deep-dish pizza, Chicago style, is at Fabian’s in Short North

Fabian’s has opened in the Short North. The eatery offers Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas and other casual fare. Pizzas are served until 1 a.m. on weekends.
Jason Fabian couldn’t help but think something was missing in the Short North, where nearly every type of food option is available. So Fabian and a team of investors recently converted the Panima storefront and opened Fabian’s, which specializes in Chicago-style pies.
He gets virtually all the components of the pies — pepperoni, sausage, meatballs and such — from the Windy City. He tinkered with the recipe for six months and is pleased with the results. Pizzas come in 9- and 14-inch sizes, and predesigned pies cost $10 to $19. Plus, there’s a build-your-own component to the menu.
The restaurant, 691 N. High St., is open seven days a week and pizza is served until 1 a.m. on the weekends. For more information, call 614-221-8240.

Hmmmm. I will need to try this. I hope it really is Chicago style not fake Chicago style like some places.
Anyone else tried it?
I ate there last week.
Really good pizza and I liked the atmosphere. Good service, too.
It is not exactly my definition of deep dish, I would call it really thick crust. However, it did remind me a lot of Chicago pizza. Not every place in Chicago even fits my definition of how deep I want my deep dish to be.
It ain’t cheap, but the quality is definitely there.
Definitely highly reccomended, you will not find another pizza like this in Columbus.
There…is…only…one…
GIORDANO’S!

Sadly, didn’t have time to try it, line was way too long and I had a plane to catch. Fabian’s is pricey at $19 for a large supreme 14″ pizza. I haven’t tried it yet, just saw the menu while passing by.
GIORDANO’S!
is exactly correct…..
i have a friends from chicago,,,,,,,who carry’s one on his car for me every time he goes home and back…..
not ON his car…………in………i meant in!
Yeah, it still makes me so sad that you can only get NON-meat pizza shipped.
Back in the day though (late 80′s), when you couldn’t buy Corona in Ohio (yeah, that was really the case), we used to load up a bunch of people in the car from the Black Forest Inn (Thirsty Scholar now I think) and drive to Chicago at 3:00 in the morning, load up on a dozen half cooked Giordano’s and several cases of Corona, and bring them back to the bar for our enjoyment…at least once a month.
Good times…
Jesus… that’s like a 14 hour round-trip. You head back to the bar at 5PM after driving all night/morning/afternoon? UGH.
We’d usually catch a Cubs game at some point during the venture LOL
lol check this one :D

how is the flavor of the crust? Does it have any flavor?? I know this is a fairly retarded question, but I tried Wholly Joe’s last night and was extremely dissapointed in the sheer lack of flavor in the dough. :( :( :(
The crust is good but I would not say it has a distinctive flavor like, say, Ginos East.

Definitely enjoy this place – a unique option for Columbus (whether or not you consider it genuine “Chicago”). Price-wise, when you compare it to Donato’s where I might eat a whole pizza before feeling full, two slices of this stuff does me well.
A worth competitor to Adriatico’s

Agreed on the service & atmosphere. The brick & hardwood floors coupled with the soft lighting and comfy booths made for a great pizza-eating experience. If anyone ever stopped in here before, you’ll be amazed at the way the place has been redone. I can’t recall the name of the restaurant that was there before, but it’s been totally flipped around.
Also agree with most of the comments here that the pizza wasn’t really deep dish, which I thought it was going to be. It was decent enough pizza though, but a little pricey. We ordered their 14″ signature pie with roma tomatoes added (an extra $2) and soft drinks ($2 each) for a total of $30 after tip. Quite a bit for a pizza dinner for two. We ate last weekend at Bodega with 3 people for $30 and got stuffed with quality food there too.
Sure, the quality was decent… the bell peppers and onions weren’t as soft as I like, but that’s just because I’m a fan of them being sauteed before adding them as toppings. Otherwise the pizza was quality. And yeah, it didn’t take much to fill us up. I was starving and managed to stuff myself with three peices.
Worth checking out, and probably a fun bar to hang out in with some friends, but I can’t say I’ll go back for the pizza there anytime soon. Will probably stick with more affordable options just because I’m not a big pizza snob. An $8 Minute Man pie will do me just fine. 8)
