The inaugural International Sports Film Festival of Ohio (ISFFO) will run from May 18 – 20, 2017, at the Gateway Film Center in Columbus, Ohio. The festival includes nine films and four post-film panel discussions. It seeks to generate conversations about how sports can break down barriers, connect communities, and inspire hope.
The ISFFO opens on Thursday May 18, 2017, with Forever Pure , a documentary that follows the 2012-2013 season of popular Israeli soccer club, Beitar Jerusalem. The festival will close with the film, 9-Man , which explores the relatively unknown (volleyball) streetball tournament created by Chinese-American immigrants.
Chris Hamel, President of the Gateway Film Center, is enthusiastic about the festival: “Film festivals give our community an opportunity to gather around great movies, have thoughtful conversations, and grow together. We’re thrilled to partner with the International Sports Film Festival of Ohio to bring these powerful stories to Central Ohio.”
The opening night reception is Thursday, May 18, 2017. Tickets to individual films are available for purchase on the Gateway Film Center’s website. Festival passes are also available, and offer access to all films. For more information on films and the festival, visit the ISFFO website or Facebook page.
