Energy drinks won’t offset alcohol’s buzz

Getting a buzz with a burst of energy isn’t as simple as it seems. Mixing a highly caffeinated energy drink with alcohol to produce drunkenness without the fatigue that can accompany it might seem logical. But mixed drinks such as Red Bull and vodka can pack a potentially dangerous punch.
In a series of studies during the past two years, Maria Lucia O. Souza-Formigoni, associate professor of psychobiology at the Federal University of São Paulo in Brazil, has tested the effects of Red Bull and vodka on the perception of drunkenness.
Her study of 26 Brazilian men, published in the April issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research, found that the drink significantly reduced the subjects’ perception of headache, dry mouth and impairment of motor coordination. Participants were not less drunk — they just thought they were.
Drink crazes such as iced beer, wine coolers and Zima have come and gone, Webb noted, so he said he wouldn’t be surprised if the energy drink-and-alcohol trend fades quickly, too.

does anyone remember when red bull first came out? i remember that it only cost a dollar and some change which was cool back then but now with supply and demand, they are a hell of a lot more. i miss the old days when things first come out.
I don’t think I had one till around 2001. Don’t ever remember it being cheap though.
Red Bull came out in Europe in 87, so it’s been around a long long time, but only came to the states and got popular in the last few years.
I rarely buy it because for $2 a can it’s pretty steep. Even when you buy it in bulk it doesn’t take the price down too much. I don’t think the high price has much to do with supply vs demand though.
If you want a cheaper nearly-identical imitation, go to Aldi’s and buy Red Thunder. 8)
Yeah, it is a trend, but I think it will be around as a mixer for awhile. It’s good!
I prefer the big cans of Monster when its energy drink time.
I hear there is a new Sobe out there that is supposed to have 1000mg of all these energy supplements, but i haven’t seen it.
i love the sugar free stacker 2 energy drinks. Especially the blue raspberry one. 1 can of it and i’m off the ceiling, but a can of redbull and i could take a nap. It’s about the same price as redbull, but much harder to find, as not everyone carries it.
I think they had a bunch of this at Big Lots the other day when I was there in Reynoldsburg, fyi.
Try sippin on some 151+Jager+Redbull @ the Bar. Or I actually prefer 151+Jager+Full Throttle, but they don’t serve Full Throttle @ the bar.
That drink will def. get ya hella feelin good…you be looking like this :shock:
So, if Jager + RedBull = Jager Bomb, what’s the name of it when you add 151?
…Just looked it up. “Dirty Little Bastard” apparently. I’m not entirely confident enough to order that one by name :lol:
It’s simple math…
Jager + Redbull = Jager Bomb
151 = Flammable
Bomb + Flammable = Explosion
Jager + Redbull + 151 = Jager Explosion! :shock:
I’ve only had a few different types of energy drinks, but none of them seemed to give me any “energy”.
it’s all about the Crunk.
Same thing for me. I drink some for flavor, but I’ve never gotten a buzz from any of these things. Regular caffiene or sugar doesn’t really do anything for me either, but for some people that stuff will bounce them off the walls. I guess it all depends on your body’s metabolism.
Vodka on the rocks with a splash of red bull for me please. :twisted:
It’s simple math…
Jager + Redbull = Jager Bomb
151 = Flammable
Napalm :)
151+Jager+Redbull = German Fuck
I order this drink and every bar tender is like WTF?!?!
Haha I dunno…i dig it.
