I just drove through campus on the way to work. There were about 100 students in line outside the Jesse Owens building waiting to get inside to wait in line some more. It was 7:25 in the morning.
I was NEVER up before 10 when I was in college. Wow.

just got back from precinct 33 (bacon district)
no line, no problem
I started a stick of gum before I rode my bicycle to the polls and it hasn’t even had time to lose it’s flavor yet.
Voted at 9:20 in precinct Bexley 3C at Bexley HS they had two lines each about 12 deep, process took about 20 minutes … process was much more efficient than either the primary or back in 2006. The BOE is doing an excellent job … now just hope the their are no “ghosts” in the machines.
What is the deal with the paper/provisional ballots? I voted by machine but was offered a paper ballot that they said was a regular ballot, though the same paper ballot was also considered a provisional ballot … was there some box you fill in so it is counted as a regular ballot … and are the paper ballots counted today (I did not see a optical scan machine at the HS)???
Yes, at Bollinger Tower.
I never kept track of time or anything.
Someone asked if I was allowed to wear the Mike Coleman for Governor T-shirt I had on… I responded, I think so being that this is from 2006 and he never really ran for that.
I also used the paper ballot. It comes with an envelope with the words printed “Paper Ballot Secrecy Envelope” which I thought was rad.
There were Obama pamphleteers outside the polling place and the poll workers asked them to move their table a designated number of feet away. As they moved their table, two of the legs fell off. That was kind of funny.
I also learned that Wienland Park and Italian Village are in the 12th Ward… which sounds more urban.
One of the poll workers was dressed like a cowboy.
There are a lot more people in the 12th Ward whose last name starts between A-K than L-Z.
I voted…but I already lost my sticker to my purse strap/seatbelt assault.
I’m sad about that.
My workplace is a polling site…wonder if those fine folks would gimme another one. :)
It was the total opposite at my ward this morning. It cut a few minutes off my wait time being able to zip around them. Made me glad I took the Rockhubby’s name.
Thompson Rec look deserted when I walked past a couple minutes ago.

walked in 10:20 am and just got home. 10:45 am
I imagine that early voting must be working some kind of magic. Four years ago, showing up at that location at 10:00 AM would have put you in the middle of a drizzly two-hour wait. (Then again, I think we had fewer machines then too.)
About an hour and 10 minutes at the Schiller Rec. Center in GV. Got there at 6:45am, it was nice seeing the sun come up. Now to get my free SBux!
To add to all of those who had short waits, my wait at Grandview Heights High School was about 5 minutes. Also the BBC was there interviewing people as they were leaving.

Whatever the cause, i was very pleased.
now it’s time to sit back and listen to everyone bitch about who’s elected.
good times, good times.
I sent in my absentee for Obama about a week ago. :D
On Election Day, Franklin County registrants can vote with either a paper ballot or on a voting machine.
Provisional ballots — though cast on paper — are not the same thing as a paper ballot. They are used when a voter’s eligibility is in question. Normally, this occurs when a voter fails to provide proper ID or has requested an absentee ballot but votes in person. They are counted once the voter has proved his eligibility.
Paper ballots and voting-machine rolls are counted on Election Day.
~60 minutes at Glen Echo Presbyterian in Clintonville including my walk there (approx .5 mile).
Very pleasant wait, had time to get some knitting in, super nice poll workers, muffins for everyone.
Couldn’t help feeling a bit dazed after casting my ballot though. After all of the anticipation tapping a name and walking away made me feel a little helpless, like it’s out of my hands now. As if it were ever all up to me. I know I’ll get another adrenaline boost and surge of unity watching the results tonight. And the bubbly chilling for just the occasion will certainly add to the tinglies :)
I happily voted by mailing in my absentee ballot last week – and then followed it up with a call to the BOE to confirm that it was received!
Seeing everyone and hearing the stories of everyone out voting really makes me feel patriotic. :)

So, I got invited to an election watching party tonight at Eddie George’s Grille 27 in the South Campus Gateway. Some folks from Fox News will be there to cover the event, and I supposedly will get a little bit of talk time. I’ll be there between 7pm and 9:30pm. I think the news coverage is live, but I’m not sure.
Anyway, I’ll be on the laptop on CU the whole time and will do my best to relay some info from what’s being said here. So keep sharing your thoughts! :D

Took just over an hour this year. Compared to my 10:30pm vote time (after a 5 hour wait) back in ’04 this was a breeze. Free donuts and coffee was great too. about 200-300 people were in line when I arrived at 6:30am. We sat in the auditorium waiting for the polls to open. 20 voting machines this year compared to the 4 machines in ’04.
Here was my crappy experience:

I even woke up at 5:30, got there by 6:00, was the 10th in line. I was the one loudly expressing my displeasure to the Board of Elections guy on the phone in the middle of the gymnasium at The Greek orthodox Cathedral. Hey to anyone that was there.
Uggghhh.
Ohio Republicans file lawsuit challenging provisional ballots.

I stopped by the Glen Echo church on Calumet in Clintonville at 8AM – it looked to be about an hour wait. I’ll probably leave work early and vote this afternoon.
Let’s change that to, “I will leave work early and vote…”
Just to update laChewla, I did return around 11AM and voted in about 15 minutes. I haven’t missed an election since 1982 – probably before most of you were born!
