Despite their somewhat hidden location in Downtown’s Pearl Alley, El Arepazo is no longer much of a secret. Their authentic Colombian and Venezuelan dishes pack lines out the door for lunch on a regular basis, and their spicy cilantro sauce was so good that customers now buy it buy the bottle to use as a condiment at home.
Fans of the restaurant will be excited to hear that owners Carlos and Carolina Gutierrez will be opening a second location in Gahanna at 93 North High Street, a block east of Creekside.
“The owner of the building came to us and asked us if we were interested in taking his space,” explains Carolina. “We researched the area and noticed great potential for families and more flexible hours for our non-downtown customers that are always asking us for extended hours.”
The couple expects the menu at the new location to be very similar to the original downtown eatery with a few small variations. The format will be more of a full service restaurant for dinner, and the addition of a bar means happy hour drink specials will be added to the mix.
“We are excited and nervous but looking forward to this new adventure,” says Carolina. “Hope to see all of our customers there!”
The target opening date for the new location is March 19th.
