Eggfast Relocating to South Campus Gateway

By: Walker

Student-centric breakfast eatery Eggfast is on the move, but it’s not going far. The restaurant is planning to relocate this fall from 24 East 12th Avenue, around the corner to a High Street location within the South Campus Gateway.

“Our lease expired and we were in a month-to-month situation in our location on 12th Avenue,” said Eggfast Founder & Chief Executive Officer Pete Nowak. “That spot was always a challenge due to the lack of parking and visibility, so after three years it was time to make a move to a better location.”

The restaurant will retain the same concept: a quick-service breakfast offered 24/7 by way of dine-in, carry-out, catering and home delivery options. The retail environment will undergo a makeover, and Nowak anticipates a few menu modifications that will broaden the restaurant’s appeal to non-students.

“We’ll continue to primarily focus on the OSU campus area, including the OSU Hospital and surrounding neighborhoods,” he explained. “We feel that the improvements will increase the appeal of the concept outside of traditional university areas.”

Eggfast proudly touts that 80% of their menu is made in-house from fresh ingredients, including their casseroles, salsas, pancakes and other sauces. The new Eggast will see the addition of locally sourced bagels and pastries and a rotating mix of high quality coffees.

The new Eggfast is tentatively planned for opening at 1607 North High Street sometime in October 2012.

  • I imagine their efforts at national franchising were stymied by their lackluster food. With Waffle House now in the neighborhood they are probably scrambling (pardon the pun).

  • Love the concept, but they really need to make sure they cook their food thoroughly. A good friend wound up in emergency with food poisoning after ordering from them once. Needless to say, we haven’t ordered anything more from them since that incident.

Don’t want to bash the business, but if people are getting sick from your food, you need to be doing better quality assurance. Just saying.

  • It is a good concept, but they need to work on customer service and food quality.

  • Have eaten there a dozen times and have had a great experience each time.

Great move. Wish them the very best in the new, better location.

  • I thought these guys had gone under. After they moved to campus the quality became abysmal. I think some of these other reviews are generous but alcohol does that. They seemed to be pretty indifferent when I had issues with cold, rubbery food.

  • The banner on the front of the High Street space in the Gateway is gone. No more re-location for them?

  • Ugh. The food is terrible and prices are outrageous. I’m never one to root against a small business, but won’t say this one would be missed too much if it’s true.
