Press Release wrote Downtown Columbus.com Gets Refreshed, Re-launched

As Downtown Columbus continues to evolve, so does its presence on the internet. The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation and Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District announce the re-designed Downtown Columbus.com, a site that was originally launched in 2002.

“Downtown Columbus is a dynamic and vibrant destination, so it is important that the Web site be interactive,” said Amy Taylor, Chief Operating Officer, Columbus Downtown Development Corporation/Capitol South. “Now the site is easier to navigate and offers many new services to anyone interested in learning more about downtown.”

The site is reflective of the collective spirit of downtown – where and how to do business, an advanced search for housing and a dynamic database of every retail store, church, restaurant, hotel, health club, and other amenity a resident, business or visitor could want. In depth progress reports on projects like the Scioto Mile and River South and ongoing events like Downtown Live and Pearl Market have a new presence.

“This site is downtown’s front door; we needed it to stay fresh and be relevant for anyone who wants to visit or just learn about downtown,” said Cleve Ricksecker, Executive Director, Capital Crossroads SID. “We’re pleased to be able to provide this joint service and promotion to all downtown residents, employees and visitors alike.”

Ricksecker will be a weekly contributor to the site’s blog, In Search of a City, starting today. Most people know his quirky perspectives and memorable opinions about downtown, yet everyone will have a chance to know them after his entries begin. Currently, the blog enjoys weekly article coined Inside 43215 that captures the “back story” to many things and people that make downtown vibrant, interesting and unique.

  • I’m still a little sad that they took any references to a streetcar off of the site.

It looks nice, and I’m glad that they’ve started the blog.
