Several local restaurants and business owners in the South Fourth Street area Downtown are planning on hosting something big this summer. The newly dubbed “4th and Main District” has announced that it will host the first everĀ “4th & Main BBQ Block Party” and “Columbus 1/2K” events on August 27th.
“The 4th and Main District is quickly becoming one of Columbusā premier drinking and dining destinations,” said event organizer Mikey Sorboro, who also owns Late Night Slice. “The 4th and Main BBQ Block Party and ColumbusĀ 1/2K are two events meant to bring attention to the districtās rebranding efforts.”
Participating brick-and-mortar bars and restaurants includeĀ Mikeyās Late Night Slice, Hadleyās, The Walrus, Dirty Franks and 16-Bit Bar+Arcade. The Block Party will include live music, drinks and BBQ food trucks that line the block of South Fourth Street between Main and Rich Streets, which will be closed to automobile traffic for the event. The lineup of BBQ vendors is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
In addition to the Block Party, 4th and Main is simultaneously hosting a 1/2K race, which is designed to be a short and fun run that benefits the Columbus Diaper Bank, which was co-founded by Sorboro and his wife Rachel. Participants will be able to run the stretch ā which equates to about a third of a mile, or 1,600 feet ā while being encouraged to dress up in costumes with adult beverages waiting at the finish line.
