Donate Winter Apparel to Those in Need

This year, help someone stay warm by donating new winter apparel at any First Service Federal Credit Union. The company has held successful toy drives during past holiday seasons, and this year decided to switch to collecting cold weather essentials for our community’s most in need.

“We were able to collect hundreds of toys for distribution to children who may not otherwise have a Christmas without the generous donations from people that could afford to help with these efforts,” says Catherine Roebuck, Director of Marketing & Business Development of First Service Federal Credit Union.

“This year, instead of collecting toys, we thought it would be a good idea to change the focus a bit to items that are definitely needed by everyone in the Central Ohio area. Warm coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots are all something any child should have do without as they walk to school, wait for buses, or participate in outdoor activities. It is important that we make sure they are protected against whatever the winter season may bring.”

Roebuck has been with First Service Federal Credit Union for eight years and has seen first hand the impact the company has made in the community, through the support of the 4-H programs in the Franklin County Junior Livestock Sale, their Reach Out and Read program which puts books in the hands of kids, and a special card, the Credit Unions for Kids VISA, where First Service donates 1% of all purchases made on this card to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) for the benefit of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

This year’s organizations to be supported are S.W.A.T. and Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs.

First Service Federal Credit Union will be collecting new winter apparel – coats, scarves, hats, mittens, boots at all of its locations now through November 16, 2015.
