The Volunteers of America are collecting backpacks filled with school supplies to distribute to kids in need for the coming school year. The Third Annual Operation Backpack Collection starts on August 1st and runs through August 24. How can you help? Purchase a new backpack and collect the supplies on one of the lists for Kindergarten, Elementary, or Middle/High School. The forms are available on the program’s website and need to be included inside of your completed backpack donation. You can also make a monetary online donation. You can drop off your completed backpacks at the Columbus Underground August Happy Hour, at any Columbus Metropolitan Library, any Walgreens store, or a Volunteers of America thrift store.

Finally, my love of office supplies has found an altruistic outlet! But ball point pens? I’m sure they would rather have these Pilot Precise V5s.
What kind of backpacks do the kids like nowadays?
Totally agreed. I kinda want kids right now just so we can get school supplies for her or him. I will definitely do this.
We finished getting supplies for the ones we are donating last weekend. I know Walmart isn’t the most popular store on CU but they have the best deals for school supplies for anyone else interested participating.
As a teacher in Whitehall…there is a real need for these types of programs! Thank you to all of you who will be participating. You can even go into Staples and leave supplies there or simply donate money on your bill!!
I know that Charity Newsies gives each child a brand new packback with school supplies. Every little bit helps. My wife is a teacher and we spend alot of money on school supplies for her kids every year.
