Dining Shorts by a Psuedosophisticate: Luce & Mezzo

By: bballplayer@67

The Luce Champagne & Sparkling Wine Dinner of August 19th was the best five course meal my wife and I have experienced. Kelly & Alex Rodriquez run a well oiled machine. The food, wine and service on this nite and on past visits are all top notch.

The trio of oysters included oysters rockefeller, a raw oyster in prosecco peach granita and a crispy deep fried oyster presented with a cucumber yogurt tapenade matched to Domaine Chandon Etoile Blanc.

The Maine Lobster Risotto was covered by lobster and served with Ruinart Rose.

The Petit Filet Mignon laid under a delicious blanket of rich foie gras.
A 2002 Veuve Clicouot Vintage Rose was a terrific choice.

The Artisanal French Cheese plate was a meal in itself with the fig compote, truffle pate and honeyed walnuts. The wine; Moet & Chandon Imperial Nectar.

The finishing touch was the Passion Fruit White Chocolate Mousse which was layered in a dark chocolate cylinder that was more than enough for two people–we took most one dessert home in a go box. The sparkling wine, Domaine Chandon Riche, we drank.

Kent Retterer of Moet Hennessey was the Guest Host & Expert.

Now onto Mezzo Italian Kitchen of Creekside in Gahanna.

We and friends joined in the special Wednesday night “all designer pizza’s are five dollars all evening” on August 26th. Happy Hour drink specials apply from 5 to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday.

If you have not been to Creekside, you gotta go for the River Walk, the Shops, the Restaurants and the People Watching.

Mezzo is our favorite Creekside Restaurant. The pizza’s are wood fired with great crust and normally cost eleven and twelve dollars.

Our favorite pizza is the Raguso which is sausage, pepperoni, smoked bacon and Capicola. We also ordered the Margherita and the Fungi pizza’s, both very good. There are six pizza’s to choose from and the Red Diamond Cabernet at a Happy Hour price of four dollars a glass is excellent.

Mezzo ia a fun and lively place to be with very good food.

  • I didn’t know A-Rod could cook :D! Seriously though, how did I not know about this place?? The menu looks amazing! I am going to try it out ASAP.

  • Hm!  I’ll be up near Powell on the 20th for a Slow Food event at lunchtime… may have to linger in the area and check this place out for dinner.  Hadn’t heard of it either.

  • I have a DO gift certificate just begging to be used at Luce.

  • I would have enjoyed Mezzo if our server gave us the time of day…at least the patio was beautiful and cozy!
