City Council on Monday approved funding for the construction of Wilson Road Park. CU reported last fall on plans for the 45-acre site on the Hilltop, which will include wetlands, athletic fields, and a trail head for the Camp Chase Trail.

Construction should begin soon on a 27-unit apartment complex at 1376 King Avenue in the Fifth by Northwest neighborhood. Brexton President and CEO Tim Galvin said that they hope to wrap up construction on the three-story building by May of 2016.

Also in Fifth by Northwest, six new apartment buildings are under construction just west of the Grandview Yard Giant Eagle Market District. The 105-unit, 133-bedroom projects stretches from Edgehill Road to Norton Avenue. It is being built by Elford, Inc.

A plan to build 58 units of affordable housing at the the corner of Heyl Avenue and East Whittier Street on the South Side will be moving forward after the developer was awarded tax credits for the project. The proposal calls for demolishing the historic Heyl School and replacing it with a three-story apartment building and four smaller townhome buildings.

The Wood Companies received approval from the Italian Village Commission this month for their Brunner Building at 940 North High Street. President Mark Wood said that they are pushing for a fall groundbreaking for that project as well as for Hubbard Park Place in Victorian Village.

Plans to develop the White Castle site at the corner of North High Street and West Second Avenue appear to have stalled while the developer – Borror Properties – works to address neighborhood concerns about traffic impacts and the overall scale of the proposed building.

Another Borror project – proposed offices and apartments at the far western end of Nationwide Boulevard downtown – seems to be progressing at a faster rate. Look for that development, which they are now calling Central Outpost, to go before the Downtown Commission for final approval in August or September.

Construction will likely begin in August on the first phase of Bridge Park, Crawford Hoying’s mixed-use development in Dublin. The city has posted a time-lapse video showing aerial views of the site with renderings of the new buildings as well as the planned roundabout, riverfront park and pedestrian bridge.

Meanwhile, just beyond Dublin’s borders in Jerome Township, Schottenstein Real Estate Group has proposed a mixed-use development for the 60-acre Jaquemin Farms site. The proposal calls for 300 apartments, an assisted-living facility, a retail center and nearly 1,000 parking spaces. Columbus Business First has more details
