From Bizspace Columbus:
The Broad-Nel Shoppes, located at the NWC of East Broad St. and Nelson Road is scheduled to open in Fall 2008. Phase I of 7,200 SF will be anchored by Tim Hortons. The project will offer up to 15,600 SF of total GLA in multiple buildings. Designed to reflect the historical Broad Street Corridor as well as buildings located on the site in the early 1900′s, this new center will provide the densely populated Near East and Bexley neighborhoods, with convenient shops and restaurants. This very visible corner, a “gateway to Columbus,” will soon become a vibrant and beautiful new retail center.

I’m not sure if the original information is a typo or a delay. It says completed “Fall 2008″, so I’m not sure if they meant Fall 2009, or missed the deadline of Fall 2008. I’m going to guess the former, as I’ve not really heard anything else about this project until now.
Anyone else know anything about it?
A long as it doesn’t look like that POS Old Bag across the street.
They’ve had a sign on this corner off and on for years, I wouldn’t hold your breath for anything. I think the last sign said “Coming Soon – Right After The Broadwin”.
What’s so beautiful about parking lots and how does a strip mall reflect the history of Broad St? Hopefully it’s not a typo and the city has some standards for no crap development.
Maybe it will be done the same time the Broadwin is…
IMO the Old Bag is a HUGE improvement over the old run down dingy place. The patio is really nice also.
Also, where will OBN hold its Fish fry sales come lent? They set up a tent last year on that site.
Anyone know who the developerr is?
Tim Horton’s is an anchor? I guess the other tennants will be the dollar store, a gas station/snack shop and one can hope for a Subway…yuck
Something on that corner is better than nothing.
