On Cinco de Mayo, 200Columbus song winner Enrique Infante, and his band Dejavu Latin Fusion Rhythms will play an album release show at Woodland’s Tavern (1200 West 3rd Avenue Columbus, OH 43212).
200Columbus is an organization whose goal is for “a community that is more inspired, proud and engaged in their progress and the increasing vitality of Columbus. This will lead to a community that is better recognized locally and globally as one of the best places to live and work”.
Infante’s winning 200Columbus song “Colors of Columbus”, can be heard HERE along with the songs of the 12 other winners. An album featuring the winners of the 200Columbus song contest will be released in June.
The band will play three sets throughout the night on the main stage. The first set lasts an hour and starts at 8:00, the second from at 10 to 11:00 PM, and the last from midnight to 2:00 AM. The band will perform songs from Infante’s solo album, Canciones Ajena. The band describes their sound as a “combination of pop and rock with Latin American and Caribbean rhythms, such as salsa, festejo, mambo, cumbia, vallenato, timba, bossa nova, and rumba”.
On the second stage, Vermont Joy Parade will perform from 9 to 10:00 PM and Kentucky’s Blood Roots Barter from 11:00 to midnight.
The bands last album, Abriendo Caminos, was released in 2006. The Peruvian singer has been in Columbus for four years and in 2010 won the Peruvian Pride Award (El Premio Orgullo Peruano). Admission for the show is $10 and the album will be available for purchase for the same price.
