Dave Matthews Band Performing at Huntington Park

By: Walker

The Dave Matthews Band will be performing on June 22nd at Huntington Park as a part of their national tour this summer. This marks one of the first big non-baseball events at the new venue. According to The Beat Blog the 10,000 seat ballpark can be expanded to accommodate 18,000 for a live music event with additional on-field seating.

Tickets for the DMB show go on sale to the general public on February 26th via Ticketmaster.

  • Very excited about this as a live music venue.  DMB, eh, but I hope it sells well and opens the door for other events!!

  • Ditto somertimeoh!   I love outdoor concerts and what a cool venue with the view of downtown, etc.   I like this cross purposing.

  • I’m not DMB fan either, but I have to imagine that the views from the ballpark will make for amazing shows there. Looking forward to seeing photos. :D

  • I just checked the DMB website and it says tickets aren’t on sale to the general public till 2/26

  • The views should be amazing and having nearly 18,000 for concerts with General Admission on the field is a great amount.  The reason for the long wait for tickets to the General Public is because of the fanclub members getting first crack at tickets.  Their sale window opened yesterday

  • I haven’t really listened to DMB since college. Thanks for the heads up that they’re coming to town.

  • Interesting choice of venue.. I wonder how the acoustics will be. I can’t imagine baseball stadiums would be that great of a place to see a concert. I’ve seen Bob Dylan at a couple of them, including Cooper Stadium, but always down on the field.

I think I’d rather the LC expand their outdoor part to accomodate larger drawing acts like this.. but looking at it on google maps I don’t know that there would be enough room to the sides

  • i thought it was awesome news.  i haven’t seen DMB since they opened their 2000 tour with 2 nights at polaris, but i’ll be at this show.

it should help bring the big outdoor concerts back to columbus.  crew stadium did that first, but now having 2 outdoor stadiums host concerts will result in more available days on the calendar since sports would come first.

i would also love it if legend valley (buckeye lake) would expand their concerts a bit more.  http://www.legendvalley.net

  • Well done ADROCK, I just tried flicking my screen b/c I thought there was a bug crawling on it.  LOL.  That just made my day. :)

  • AD bars will be packed, I look forward to seeing the skyline as a great concert back drop.  Should be better than crew stadium.

  • I’ll see what I can do about getting photos.

Oddly I was just talking with a person the other day about Columbus needing a new open air arena, I guess we have found it.

  • Yea Adrock, awesome avatar, you had me fooled, but I’ve had 2 rum and cokes.  This is cool and demonstrates the need for an outdoor ampitheater  on the river overlooking downtown ala Cleveland.  I can’t believe I just referenced something cool and positive about Cleveland.  Oh well, a first for everything.
p.s. DMB ok …. I say bring on Buffett!!!

  • I still think DMB in the Shoe would be kind of fun. I’m excited for this show. I haven’t seen them in a few years.

  • As a Clippers ticket holder, I hope they put some sort of protective cover on the field so they don’t ruin it (like Buffet did at the Jake back in ’95.)  I wonder how many people will listen for free outside.

  • JedThorp Says: I wonder how many people will listen for free outside.

Heh. For some reason I didn’t even think of that.
