Dan’s embraces Greek fare

Since closing Taverna Opa to concentrate on the recently acquired Dan’s Drive In, Niko and Georgia Bergados have been hearing complaints from former customers lamenting that the South Side’s premier source of Greek cuisine was history.

The couple listened. Enlarging Dan’s palette, the owners have just come out with a revamped menu that includes more than a dozen Greek items.

  • Wow…Taverna Opa always had great food, but these owners need to hire a realtor before they decide where to locate thier next restaurant. Taverna Opa was in a great location, but people have reservations (no pun intended) about going into an old house for dinner. It just looked a little strange.

    Now this one, down by Frank Rd. on S. High St. is in more of an industrial area. I don’t get it?!?!

  • Yeah, I’ve driven by this and it looks a little scary due to the location, but I think it’s been around awhile and is sort of a blue-collar staple.

    Here’s a few reviews but I don’t know how accurate they are since they were probably all done before the ownership change and the new menu changes.

    Anyone ever eaten here before?
