Ethan Finlay bagged a brace and Kei Kamara’s hot-streak continued as a rampant Columbus Crew SC overwhelmed a dire Philadelphia Union team 4-1.
Carrying on from last week’s destruction of Orlando, Crew SC opened the game on the offensive and pushed Philadelphia back into their own half and it didn’t take long before the home team grabbed their first goal as Kamara, on his 200th MLS appearance, brought down a cross from Finlay and blasted the ball beyond Union keeper John McCarthy.
Ten minutes of possession of pressure later and Crew SC doubled their lead as Finlay fired home off a well placed cross from Waylon Francis.
With Philadelphia beginning to look like easy pickings it came as no surprise when Justin Meram added his name to the score-sheet with a fantastic individual effort that just managed to creep over the line.
The second half gave up more of the same bar one lack of concentration that allowed Eric Ayuk to pull a goal back and then celebrate as though his goal actually counted for four.
Any minor hopes of a Union miracle we’re firmly dashed in the 74th minute as Kamara and Finlay teamed up once again to put the Crew SC winger through on goal and allow Finlay to calmly finish for his second goal of the evening.
After two successful home games Columbus hit the road for their next game before returning to MAPFRE Stadium on May 9th to face Seattle.
