The red-hot offense of Columbus Crew SC turned MAPFRE Stadium into a shooting-gallery on Saturday night as Kei Kamara bagged another brace and Federico Hiquain added another as Crew SC recorded another home win with a 3-2 beating of Seattle Sounders.
Kamara opened the scoring early when the big forward ironically beat Chad Marshall in the air and nodded the ball past Seattle ‘keeper Stefan Frei.
Crew SC continued to create chances and perhaps should’ve increased their lead before the inevitable happened and Clint Dempsey equalized.
In the 24th minute the US captain fired an unstoppable left-footed strike that flew past the desperate dive of Steve Clark.
Columbus came out quick in the second half and began an onslaught on the Seattle goal. Hiquain was first to add to the Crew SC goal count with a neat run into the Seattle box and a confident finish that left Frei helplessly staring at the replays on scoreboard.
Kamara netted his second of the evening after a crossed ball looked to be going nowhere until Ethan Finlay pulled the ball back for the razor-sharp Kamara to confidently knock into the goal.
Dempsey pulled a goal back for Seattle to make things a little interesting although the Sounders forward appeared to be in an offside position and the replay received a chorus of boos from the home faithful.
In the end it didn’t make much difference as the rampant Crew SC ended the evening with 24 shots on goal and managed to hold on for another impressive home victory, and this time without the help of a red card.
Crew SC will be back home after the Rock on the Range break for a Friday night game against Chicago Fire.
