Crew Rallies for Comeback to Triumph Over FC Dallas

By: Matt Ellis

The Columbus Crew fought back from a goal down to claim the Pioneer Cup with a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas in front of 11,120 happy home supporters inside the house that Lamar built.

The turning point came in the 63rd minute when Dallas’ Zach Loyd was given his second yellow card and subsequent red card for a foul on Justin Meram.

Four minutes later, the Crew levelled the score when Meram rifled home the ball from outside the box and ended a 2 game goal scoring drought.

And it took just another five minutes for the Crew to take the lead after Sebastian Miranda found himself completely unmarked just outside the box and snapped his header beyond the well beaten Chris Seitz.

The Crew’s next two games take place away from Crew Stadium, with trips to San Jose and Seattle before returning to town on Memorial day weekend for the always entertaining visit of Chicago Fire and a post game concert from Flogging Molly.

  • A win at home and 3 points is exactly what the Crew needed.

I’m glad you got a shot of the Lamar Hunt Flag Corps too. That was all kinds of awesome!

  • I can’t help but ask… doesn’t the dude in green in the final picture look a bit like Shane from The Walking Dead tv series? ;)
