They call it the Fuse Factory. Ideas go in; projects related to art and technology come out.
An exhibit of technology- and science-based art Friday and Saturday will mark the debut of the Fuse Factory Electronic and Digital Arts Lab.
Because the new organization doesn’t have a home, the exhibit will be shown at Rescentris, a company at Easton Town Center that develops software for life-science and health-care research organizations.

Creativity, technology meet in organization’s first display

I think this seems like a really neat exhibit (and group in general). I hope they find a permanent home somehwhere downtown or close by.
Yeah, I love jellyfish so much, I must have one of these. Very cool.
Have you been stung by one?! It SUCKS.
Anyways, cool event!
Reminder: My first public exhibition (eva!) will be at this show.
It is a computer program work called La vie comme l’autobus and features an up-to-minute repeating animation of the locations of the city buses, which draw a pixel-based map of the Columbus streets live during the event.
Here is a picture:
…based on Python 2.5, OpenGL (pyglet), and SQLite.
Hope to see some of you out there! It is tomorrow from 7-10pm, and Saturday 1-8pm.
4100 Regent Street #M, Columbus, OH
No way! That’s too cool! Where’s the data pulled from? You must be friends with some COTA folks or something. :)
Hope to make it out to this… if not tomorrow, then at some other point.
(there was a part here where i unnecessarily berated a previous obvious complete failing to recognize the dates and times of the event, which, at best, are a tad confusing.)
… it is Tomorrow (Friday, 3-28) and the day after tomorrow (Saturday, 3-29)I would go if it were not so far out :( . A bit of irony, that probably no one can take a bus to see your performance. It sounds fascinating though.
You probably can to some degree, or at least get mostly there. The 95 Morse / Henderson cross-town gets you there, and there are transfers to/from the 1,2,4 as those reach Morse, however the last bus out of there leaves at 7pm both days (so, leaves before the thing starts tomorrow). But it gets you to the “Easton Transit Center” and it is something of a suburban nightmare hike from there to Easton Town Center, I think… but not very far… maybe a quarter mile at most.
I road there one time, sunbury road gets you close and is a nice ride.
Oh, hey, I looked at cota.com, and it basically just goes to Easton.. the transit center is *right there* near it all… you might have to cross a street, that’s it.
I’d like to take the Sunbury bus, that’d be cool just to do and relax thinking about the scenery.
Thom, that piece looks bee-yoo-tiful!
hey thanks!!!! if ya can’t make it, perhaps i’ll try and make a video rendering or something or post the code (heheh)
Yeah, that installation looks really cool Thom!
Yo, sweetness! Please no code= I am computarded.
Oh! I forgot I HAVE a video….
This is the *submission* video I sent, after which they suggested I try to redo in some ways, and then I got crazy with it. This video represents one full day of the entire system, repeated 7 times (5 white, 2 black). This was done with a series of bash shell and python hacks into SVG, then rendered with imagemagick, thusly reencoded with ffmpeg.
There is no audio, so might I suggest my own private audio.
3mb MPEG 480i 16:9
How did Thom come to exist? Yay! Is there some kind of code for that?

I love it! I like watching them come home to the west side to roost at the end of the day.
totally…. that was the biggest surprise for me out of the whole thing.
Just stumbled upon this “Art-Virus” that I guess has shown at similar tech-themed art shows. ;)
Walker — that video is 3r33t, very………. hehehe I can’t stop giggling… I can’t quite tell the connector, looks usb… but wasn’t there a firewire vulnerability that can’t really be turned off? Way funny / cool heheh and props to the real, ethical hacker, the which which makes you pay in only the best of ways, you bastard. that’s what you get hehehe… I could see maybe a windows 95 theme ;p 3.11 WFW? with these composited guis, you could just turn the whole thing umop apisdn, permanently haha
The reception tonight at the show was a good time. Lots of amazing artists, good people there too, crazy works. Some tounge-in-cheek, some simply amazing feats around, there, too. All I’m gonna say is that I needs me one of them cheapo dedicated mp3 playing circuits that take little mini cf cards ;p
