    Cravings Cafe Now Open Downtown

After two years without a home, Cravings Cafe will reopen on Monday, September 25 at their new location Downtown, in the space that was once Saigon Palace. Not much has changed with the restaurant since their closure in 2015, but co-owner Lindsay Tewanger expects things to look a little different as they occupy a bigger space and serve a new crowd.

“When we were over on Third, we were mostly a weekend business. Our big days were Saturday and Sunday,” Tewanger said. “Down here, I think it’s going to be the complete opposite.”

Operating in about 1,600 square feet of space, Cravings Cafe will have about four times the room that they had in Italian Village and will seat up to 15 people. Their service style is largely the same, with guests coming to the counter, placing an order and waiting for their number to be called to get their food, but they’re working on speeding the process up to cater to the time-crunched lunch crowd.

As far as the menu, it’s “going to look really familiar to all of our old customers,” said Tewanger. Her husband Matt Tewanger will continue to run the kitchen, and their popular brioche bread and sandwiches will remain the same.

They’ve added breakfast, though, offering a breakfast roll, a burrito and smoked salmon pierogies as options. Lunch will come with several sandwich and salad options, including their house club, fried tomatillo sandwich, and their “All Chopped Up” salad with greens, veggies, hard boiled eggs, croutons, and bacon, among others. Their variety of house-made cookies, as well as coffees, cold brews and teas round out the menu.

Cravings Cafe will start its regular hours on Monday, which are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. It’s located at 114 N. Front St.
