Craftin’ Outlaws Announces Move to New Venue for Spring Show

Craftin’ Outlaws has announced a new location for its Spring Fling show, one that will challenge the notion of ‘is it art or is it craft’? This year’s Spring Fling show will be held Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Columbus Museum of Art.

Outlaws organizer Megan Green is excited about the opportunities the new location will create for the show, the crafty vendors, and the patrons of all things handmade.

“As we enter into our 13th year, we’ve really seen a shift in what handmade means,” says Green. “Our makers continue to elevate how traditional and indie crafts are defined. The Outlaws who join us have graduated from art schools, work with large corporate clients, and run their creative businesses year round. By showcasing handmade talent in a setting like the Columbus Museum of Art, we hope to showcase how crafts are more than just a recreation, they are also a valued part of the local art scene.”

The new location will offer more space and more natural light for the show. Craftin’ Outlaws Spring Fling will be held in the Darby Court and in the newly created Pavilion which overlooks the museum’s garden.

Green hopes that the interactive make and takes and other hands-on activities shoppers have come to love at the Craftin’ Outlaws Holiday Shows will be incorporated into the Spring Fling as the move to the Columbus Museum of Art will provide more space for these engagement opportunities.

Each year, Craftin’ Outlaws partners with an artist for the promotional materials.

“This year we are excited to showcase the work of local artist Yao Cheng of Yao Cheng Designs,” says Green. “Look for tote bags, posters and a small run of handmade items gracing her design.”

The Craftin’ Outlaws shows attract vendors from all over the Midwest, showcasing their handmade screen printed apparel, locally crafted bath and body products, textiles for the home, handcrafted jewelry, artwork, and more.

Vendor applications are now open, and will close February 5, 2018.

General admission is free at the craft show, and swag bags will be available for the first 100 people through the door.

Craftin’ Outlaws Spring Fling will take place Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 12 – 4 p.m. at the Columbus Museum of Art at 480 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215.
