Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer Making a Splash in Columbus

It’s arguably an acquired taste. Ginger beer is peppery, refreshing, and potent, and with the recent resurgence of the Moscow Mule cocktail, popularized during the 1950s vodka boom, can now be found at most bars around town.

Ginger beer is more commonly sold as a non-alcoholic product, but UK import brand, Crabbie’s, has become a staple in the US. The Original Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer entered the Ohio market back in 2012, inciting a new wave of cocktail making and drinking.

crabbies-02And now here comes another wave. Crabbie’s has released their newest flavor, Spiced Orange, in the Columbus area. This twist on the classic pairs the pungency of the original with a punch of zesty citrus for an intriguing flavor combination.

“The people of Columbus have been great supporters of Crabbie’s since we first launched Original, so we are very excited to introduce Spiced Orange to the area,” shares Phil Clarke, GM for St. Killian’s Importing. “We hope to meet new friends and enjoy delicious drinks together.”

Slightly sweeter than the original, Crabbie’s Spiced Orange is delicious on its own, but even better in an updated version of your favorite cocktail. Try using it to top off an Old Fashioned or as your secret ingredient in a killer Margarita.

Or just have your friendly neighborhood bartender whip you up something. Find Crabbie’s products at spots like Brick, Denmark on High, Lindey’s Restaurant, Park Street Tavern, Sycamore Café, Union Café, Yellow Brick Pizza, and Short North Pint House, among others.

If you prefer to mix your own drinks, Crabbie’s, sold in 4-pack, 11-ounce bottles and a larger 16.9-ounce bottle, can also be purchased at Barrel & Bottle, Lucky’s Market, House Wine, and The Hills Market, among others, as well as select Kroger and Giant Eagle Supermarkets.

At any time you want to find the nearest Crabbie’s vendor to you, they have an app for that. A simple download and the app will locate the nearest merchant to your location, as well as provide other interactive elements.

Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer and Spiced Orange flavor are both worth a try because they are simple and effective ways to add pizzazz to your cocktail routine. Because, really, life is too short to have a bad drink.
