COTA CEO Gets 100 Local Leaders on the Bus in 2013

Curtis Stitt had a pretty lofty New Year’s Resolution in mind for 2013. The COTA President & CEO wanted to get 100 different business and community leaders to ride the bus with him throughout the year, and better understand their relationship with local public transportation.

“I’m pleased to report that we reached our goal,” said Stitt in a letter that recaps the initiative. “I took my 100th trip with the Executive Director of the King Arts Complex on December 28th.”

Stitt says that this outreach provided many leaders who were unfamiliar with the public transportation system a better understanding of the service and a better appreciation of the value it provides to the community.

“We are launching several important initiatives that will greatly improve the current bus system and create the blueprint for the Next Generation of public transportation — the system needed to support the Central Ohio we envision for the future,” explains Stitt.

Upcoming COTA projects in 2014 include the introduction of the new Downtown Circulator route, development of the Cleveland Avenue Bus Rapid Transit system, an updated Real Time Tracking platform, and a system-wide study to help with the effectiveness of current bus service. Updates on each of these projects will be provided as progress is made throughout the year.
