COTA Adds More Late Night Service in 2010

By: Walker

COTA will be ringing in the new year by adding more late night service to almost all of their major routes as a part of their ongoing regular service updates.

During the weekdays, bus routes 1 though 11 plus 16 and 18 will have new/updated Downtown lineups at 11pm and Midnight, which means that each bus will be running their final routes later than before. Service expansion on weekends means the same 11pm and Midnight lineups for the same bus routes on Saturday, and new 8pm and 9pm lineups on Sunday.

The new changes are scheduled to take effect on January 4th, 2010. The full detailed list of service updates can be found by clicking here (PDF). More information can be found online at www.cota.com.

  • Respect your elders. I’ve had a great opportunity to work alongside people from various generations, all doing great things.

And welcome to the site, you are doing great so far.

  • Alright guys… stop the bickering. ;)

As someone who spends a lot of time meeting new people all over the city, I have to say that I’ve been inspired plenty of times by people both much older and much younger than myself. Contributing something to your community isn’t something that has an age limit. ;)

  • Hahaha! Great at causing drama? Maybe I got off to a wrong start, but I’ve lived here for many years and have fond childhood memories of the old COSI and city center. All I am here to do is give my creative input to only better our city.

Everyone knows how slow change can be, and I guess what I’m getting to is the younger demographic (at least me and my friends) are tired of waiting and just want change now!

I am sorry for disrespecting anyone, but I don’t want my creativity and willingness to help Columbus to be shot down by my age.

So how ’bout those late-night busses?

  • What I meant by the # 5 is that it doesn’t run every 15 minutes like the # 2 (more like every hour)….

  • Ah, gotcha. Still, I think once per hour is probably plenty for the purpose of a bar crawl. ;)

  • @ alove: Now that’s a different thing entirely.  I agree, you should never let yourself be told that you are too young to do good.  Just remember, some of us were fighting the good fight at your age too.

I don’t see how more late night busses could be anything but a good thing.

  • anyone who wants to visit the Brewery District or German Village can now ride the #7 It has been extended to late nights also. Personally, I think the late night service is a fantastic way to reach out to the community who works 2nd shift or people wanting to get ’round downtown for some late night entertainment. And please don’t forget, COTA is continuing to make improvements and increase service, where as other cities have not been so lucky and have had to reduce public transportation.
