Nature Notes: Whittier Peninsula construction update
By John RossConstruction of a new urban nature center on the Whittier Peninsula is coming along well, and plans for a late spring opening seem within reach. The Grange Insurance Audubon Center — dedicated to education, recreation and conservation — will be the crown jewel of revitalization efforts on the small sliver of land jutting from the Scioto River south of Downtown.

When are they going to start moving the impound lot? That seems like a pretty sizeable task.
They mean this spring? Is there a little trail yet? If so, I can see this lending some more life to the Brewery District. Which reminds me, I haven’t been to anywhere there except Hi-Beck for awhile.
you can get from the rich st. bridge under construction via a bike path along the scioto past the nature center to whittier place that intersects front street in the brewery district. They need to get moving on that impound lot.

When it opens Aug. 28, the new Scioto Audubon Metro Park will offer visitors spectacular views of birds, aquatic wildlife and the Downtown skyline. And rows of dented, rusting cars in the city’s impounding lot.
That view might last a while. The city doesn’t have the $4.6 million to build a new lot south of Rt. 104 between the Scioto River and S. High Street, Joel S. Taylor, finance and management director, said yesterday.
