Construction to Wrap Soon on 600 Goodale

Kaufman Development’s 600 Goodale project is on track to be completed soon; the final units were turned over to renters last week and the last finish details should be complete by the end of the year.

CEO Brett Kaufman said that interest in the project, which was initially strong, has continued throughout the year and translated into a building that is now 96% leased. The first residents moved in over the summer.

“We’ve got a lot of really happy people there, good momentum around the activities and programming,” said Kaufman, adding that residents have been very patient with the ongoing construction.

The community room, which opened last month, has seen lots of activity, according to Kaufman, and art by local artists has been hung in the common spaces and corridors.

Some of the more unique ideas for programming in the building, which Kaufman first shared with CU last year, have also started to take shape. Entrepreneur and artist Daniel Fox has been named the artist in residence, and has already hosted a couple of events, while a partnership with Besa has yielded volunteer opportunities for residents.

An incubator space, which was originally envisioned as a partnership with Battelle, is now serving more as a co-working space for residents, but Kaufman said they may revisit the original concept; “we’re still contemplating having a deeper connection with a business that would take residence and incubate there.”
