When we checked in with The Barrett development in Merion Village last summer, Columbus Underground was given a guided hard-hat tour of the inside of the historic Barrett Middle School building. Renovations of the building had just begun, and the transformation into apartments was under way.
An exterior tour of the site last week reveals that much progress has taken place over the past nine months. Six new townhome buildings are in the process of popping up on the grounds surrounding the school building, which will collectively add 104 for-rent apartments between the new buildings and the old school building combined.
A third phase of development will add for-sale single family homes on the eastern side of the site with completion planned between Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. The Barrett is a collaborative project involving both Homeport and Casto.
