July was a hot month in Columbus, both figuratively and literally. There were a smaller number of development announcements, but each one largely significant to the ever-densifying landscape of our city.
A large modern mixed-use development called The View on Fifth was announced on Fifth Avenue, mirroring a similar development announced on High Street from the same firm. Columbus State made a big splash with their new campus master plan that envisions the Downtown commuter campus as a dense urban neighborhood. Nationwide Realty Investors announced their next phase of Grandview Yard, which features new mixed-use apartment buildings. Wagenbrenner unveiled the design of the Jeffrey Park Community Center, with construction on apartments planned to begin this fall. The master plan for the redevelopment of the Near East Side was also finalized in July, as the demolition of most of Poindexter Village continues. And Neighborhood Launch announced the continuation of their Bishop’s Walk condos down Gay Street.
Additionally, our construction photos below feature updates on the I-70/71 Highway Project, The Flats II apartments and the new Columbia Gas HQ building in the Arena District, The Hub mixed-use building in The Short North, the Harrison Park Apartments in Harrison West, Aston Place in Victorian Village, new university buildings at OSU, The Lane mixed-use development on Lane Avenue, the Lennox Flats apartments, the Liberty Place apartments, and Downtown residential developments at Neighborhood Launch, Highpoint at the Commons and the proposed Julian Building.
