Construction Roundup – August 2011

By: Walker

There’s only a few tall cranes working on larger development projects in Columbus at the moment, and a whole lot of ground-level work on streets, sidewalks, planters and utilities. The contrast makes for an interesting set of photos in this month’s construction update collection — half are pointed upward toward the sky, the other half are pointed down at the new brick streets.

  • I love the sound of jackhammers in the morning.

  • The work at Livingstone and Parsons around Childrens is looking great!  I am really excited for it to be completed, such a HUGE improvement over what it used to look like!

  • Great photos, Walker.  Downtown is slowly coming to life…

  • Thanks! Honestly, it feels like there’s not quite as many projects as there were just a few years ago… and admittedly, I’m a little less excited about hotels & hospitals as I am condos, apartments and retail… but it’s still good to see things moving forward. ;)

  • I like retail and living too, Walker, but I am excited that we will have such amazing hospitals in Columbus.

  • The thousands of new employees at those hospitals are going to need a place to live, shop and eat. Hopefully, a few choose to live, shop and eat in urban Columbus. And I would not worry about the lack of projects. I have a feeling next year is going to be pretty nuts.

  • Driving down 670 from the West, the Hilton is a nice addition.  I was surprised at the height from that view,

  • Yeah, I keep spotting the new hotel from different angles and it’s always surprising. ;) Will be nice to have another building in the skyline.
