Concert Review: Echolocation at Brothers Drake

They aren’t old enough to vote, only one can drive, and two-thirds of them haven’t taken their first High School class yet, but the kids can rock, as demonstrated on the stage at Brothers Drake during a beautiful gallery hop on Saturday night.

Formed out of the Dominion Rock Camp a couple of summers ago, Columbus band Echolocation is turning heads with each performance.

The trio consisting of Henry Morris, 13, vocals/guitar, Seth Peacock, 13, vocals/bass, and Clayton Peacock, 16, drums, has a lot of promise. Running smoothly through a set list that predates them by a couple decades (Hendrix, The Pixies, Iggy and The Stooges) their taste in music matches their old souls; and paired with raw talent makes them fun to watch.

The kids came in 2nd place in the 2014 Groove U Instaband Competition with judges such as Randy Malloy (CD102.5), Brian Lucey (Magic Garden Mastering) and Jerry DePizzo (O.A.R.) on the panel, and as a result are currently recording their debut EP with Mark Abrams at Vaughan Music Studios.

And as proven by their growing fan base, they’re earning respect from many musicians around the city for their playing abilities at such a young age — Echolocation is a band to keep tabs on.

Look for them at various festivals and on the Brothers Drake stage more this summer.
