Last Thursday night California two-piece Best Coast brought their effortlessly cool guitar-pop to the Newport along with up and coming punk-pop band Bully.
First up were Bully, a band that’s getting some pretty decent buzz and one that CD102.5 recently added to day 3 of Summer Festival 2015.
With a sound that feels like it would’ve been more at home on 90’s MTV, Bully is easy listening punk, infectious and guitar-y in all the right places with a little bit of aggression thrown in to keep things from getting boring.
Best Coast are Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno but are now touring as a five-piece, allowing for a much larger sound and giving Cosentino more room to showcase her sugar-laced vocals.
The band are currently touring their California Nights release. An album that continues to show the bands move towards a more 90’s power-pop sound and away from the lo-fi stoner garage sound of their earlier releases.
