Community Tricycle AND COMMUNITY TRAILOR Project Underway

By: Cyclist

The Community Tricycle has been finished and is ready for use.

The community tricycle project intends to provide a no-cost outlet for those wishing to move bulkier and heavier objects and goods without the use of a motorized vehicle. Great for hauling groceries, recyclables, small boxes, goods, small furniture, kegs and other things under 200 lbs in a less than 5 mile radius in town. It is an adult sized tricycle.

One can contact me to borrow the tricycle provided that they take good care of it, secure it when not in use, and return it in a reasonable time. There is also a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=31479442802 to join to show your support.

You are responsible for your own safety and providing your own lock.

The tricycle currently needs a tarp and a good set of lights (and better parts) if anyone wishes to donate such.

This is all part of an effort to help people live a more car-free and car-lite lifestyle by providing a service to counter one of the barriers to being car-free… how to move stuff.

The tricycle is not intended to carry passengers in the cargo area, and operator must know how to ride in traffic.

Enjoy. Pictures soon!

I know when I was a member of a block watch, we could run plates for felonies or outstanding warrants, but you would need the whole plate number? This was more for when dubious looking automobiles were seen in the area stopped with people coming and leaving the window

  • Well, I got a hold of the guy in Zanesville, I am waiting on him sending me more photos, but I am pretty sure I will but it…

    Thanks Life Liberty.

  • no problem, I feel bad you got hit, that really sucks. I’ve been plowed by cars on both my bicycle and motorcycle so I can relate to the suckage of losing the vehicle. at least the people that hit me stopped after the accident. I’d help you pick up the trike too, but right now my truck needs a radiator, so it’s parked for the time being until it gets fixed.

That’s nice of you. Think I might be able to get a truck. Coincidentally my Girlfriend just bought a couch on craigslist from Zanesville that she needs picked up. So if we use you truck, that will give us time to discuss our different values.

I never thought you to be gun-totin’ or conservative. Liberals and conservatives strongly support capitalist processes and values. There are other view points beyond where ideas are usually categorized. Liberals are pretty mainstream in my view.

  • i am a gun totin conservative, just not the kind you think.

liberals = mainstream  Dayam, you must be from one of those extremist progressive hipster parties I’ve been hearing about. :)

I am no extremist. What is no extreme about standing for peace and justice? Frugality, compassion, and conscious living?

i was joking, really. I don’t see you as an extremist. peace is great. Justice, I am all about it, I believe in nothing more.

Perhaps, but our methods and definitions are different.

Extremism isn’t determined by WHAT you value, it’s determined by HOW you value things.

    Explain please.

Thanks. I am going to Zanesville maybe on Sunday to buy the trike that LifeLiberty Posted.

  • Just noticed this thread…Zach, sorry your bike got squashed. If you need to borrow my truck to get that bike, I won’t need it all day tomorrow, or Sunday until 2:30.

I might take you up on it Sunday… Its in Zanesville. I’ll cover the cost of Gas and me and Lindsay will make you a kick-ass Chinese dinner.

  • Cool, no probs. I have a gig up in Powell at 3pm on Sunday & that’s my only restriction time-wise. My truck has a V8 & gets about 12 mpg, so factor that into your cost for the bike. (if you can disassemble it & wedge it into a car, it might be a much cheaper experience)

Coincidentally my girlfriend has bought a couch in Zanesville off craigslist too… so a truck is in order.

  • Thanks to Blammo’s truck and Lifeliberty’s web find, I now have a new tricycle to continue this project. I need to take it apart and get down to the nuts and bolts before she is ridable again. Still have not found that van either…
