April Fools: Comfest to Relocate to Fairgrounds

Rumors have been swirling for the past two weeks around the possible cancellation of this year’s Community Festival event. Those rumors can finally be put to rest as an official statement was released today that not only confirms that the festival is still on for 2010, but also that the festival will be relocated to a new venue: The Ohio State Fairgrounds.

“We recognize that Comfest has outgrown Goodale Park,” said a mysterious figure shrouded in darkness who claimed to be a member of the Comfest planning committee. “We feel that a move to the fairgrounds will not only allow us to showcase a larger number of local bands, but it will also give us the ability to deny an even larger number of bands from performing.”

Comfest organizers are still collecting applications from musical performers at this year’s festival, and many bands are seeking a coveted timeslot on the main “Bozo Stage” which will now be housed at the Voinovich Livestock & Trade Center.

Additionally, the fairgrounds offers a plethora of parking opportunities for visitors, so that no carpooling, biking or bus riding is necessary.

“It’s great that we’ve finally found a way to solve the parking issues that were prevalent around Goodale Park,” explained the mysterious unnamed figure. “We’ve essentially got enough room for every person in Columbus to drive their vehicles separately.”

Many longtime fans of Comfest have expressed concern over the relocation and are worried that the Fairgrounds will not provide enough adequate greenspace for blacking out.

“Let me reassure you that everything we all love about Comfest will still be present at the new location,” added Mr. Shadow. “We’ll even be adding some new experiences inspired by the fairgrounds, such as our premiere display of the vegan-friendly Margarine Cow.”

Comfest takes place on June 25, 26 and 27 in 2010. More information can be found at www.comfest.com.
