
USA Today, along with the help of KaBOOM!, a national playground non-profit, recently compiled a list of the country’s best cities for children’s playgrounds. Columbus ranked #2 on the list, topped only by San Francisco. Our city has a total of 140 public play spaces, and was noteworthy because of our strong public-private partnership task force that funds the Safe Playgrounds Initiative.
Downtown Columbus gained two large new play spaces this summer with Columbus Commons, which includes a carousel and weekly children’s programming, as well as The Scioto Mile, which features a world-class public fountain system that children have been playing in every day this summer.

So funny cause I just wrote about this on my client’s blog yesterday! KaBOOM is so awesome for recognizing cities that are advocating for more active kids. Glad Columbus is on the list.
