  • Excellent idea, it would be great if the clubs would all contribute to the cause. Maybe a small percent of ticket sales or a flat fee per show. There have been too many cases lately of local musicians who got sick/hurt w/o insurance and were really messed up. Glad to see folks being proactive in an area of such need.

  • We will post way more information here when the bands are confirmed, but we would love for you all to mark your calendars for July 5th, 2008 – that is the 3rd Annual Here Comes Your Weekend Parking Lot Blowout in the Surly Girl Saloon Parking Lot. Bands from 2 -11, PBR, food and good times. And the proceeds from the beer truck benefit the Columbus Musician’s Assistance Program! The event is free and family friendly during the day too!

We hope to see you there!

  • This is a great idea and way for those who choose alternative ways of making money while entertaining us all to have a support system. I love the whole concept and will for sure be at the Surly Girl parking lot jam.

  • Great idea!

Why not form an insurance collective, like a small business association, to negotiate reduced rates? That way, a larger number of healthy subscribers could offset the less healthy and keep rates lower for everyone?

  • This will be the third year of the Here Comes Your Weekend Parking Lot Blow-Out with all proceeds going to CMC.

I look forward to this weekend more than anything else every single year! It’s your post-Comfest blues pick-me-up!

this is actually a possible long-term goal of our organization! as we get bigger and bigger we hope to expand into larger projects like this.

  • This is pretty awesome. But, I’m curious about the $0 grant. That just seems a little silly.

That was more so that people would be encouraged to apply for smaller grants too. Like if you needed help with prescriptions or something small.

Btw, everybody here gets $0 grants. CONGRATS!

It’s for folks who love paperwork!

  • I think it is a great idea. As a musician playing out for the last 20 years, I would say this is a good idea. The only thing is, don’t think any club or bar owners are gonna pony up for it.

  • I wanted to bump this thread again…this is the program that our tent at Comfest and the Parking Lot Blowout benefits!

If you have any questions or know a musician who could use some help, please pm me or send a message to columbusmusiccoop@gmail.com
