Columbus Metro Library Ranked #2 in US in 2009

Library Journal has just released their list of the top library systems throughout the country, and the Columbus Metropolitan Library has ranked in second place for large systems with operating expenditures of over $30 million. The study analyzes circulation rates per capita, program attendance, public internet terminal use, and total number of visits.

  • It is also interesting to note that Grandview Heights and Upper Arlington libraries were both ranked first in their respective size groupings.  Grandview actually got by far the highest score of any library in the country.  Pretty amazing that there can be so many well used libraries in one area.

  • The Columbus library rocks! Congrats to them, although they deserved to be #1. Thanks to them for everything they do to support and enrich the community.

  • I was just there today. I always have about 20 books checked out. I’m extremely appreciative for our great library system.
