IHS Global Insight, an economic/financial analysis firm, has developed a projection for the nation’s employment recovery. The Columbus metro area fares pretty well, but things look pretty dire in other parts of the state.
From CSMonitor.com: None of this suggests that the nation is yet on the mend. “We’re not calling an end to the recession, by any means, right now,” Diffley adds. But “the recession will end. And here’s the way the metros will come back.”

Interesting study. A quick glance at the map doesn’t yield too many surprises. Texas and parts of the “sun belt” look ready to come back first. Glad that Columbus doesn’t trail too far behind, but I agree that having the rest of Ohio falling behind isn’t going to help us overall.
I’m just glad that now, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel and people are no longer mentioning the possibility of another depression. 2011 will be perfect for me as I am projected to graduate that year….finally.
The rest of Ohio had better thank the econogods for Columbus. I shudder to think where this state would be without us.
